I just bought a book on Diane Arbus’s work.  I don’t see how she’s a photojournalist.  I don’t get it.  I also just don’t see the appeal.  Maybe it’s just a preference in taste but seriously:  I DON’T GET IT!  Not like my photos are any better than hers.  But maybe that’s the point.  They look like she just went around and photographed a party.  Sometimes a nudist party.  Is she considered a photojournalist?  Or an artist.  A social photojournalist I can somewhat see.  She does go around photographing people and what not.  But an artist?  Maybe back in her fashion photography days.  I don’t mean to come off as upset or disappointed.  I mean, her photograph is a pleasure to look at and I truly do enjoy the book.  I just think that I’m missing something.  Some sort of information I passed up that would explain the appeal.
